1,000 arrested for online gambling in Cambodia

Nearly 1,000 suspects have been arrested by Chinese and Cambodian authorities this year, relating to online gambling, telecommunication fraud, and gang crimes, according to China’s Ministry of Public Security.

Last month, more than 300 Chinese nationals suspected to be involved in online gambling crimes were arrested in Cambodia, according to the Ministry.

The law enforcement cooperation reportedly began in March this year, with the aim of tackling major crimes such as illegal online gambling, telecommunication fraud, drug and gang crimes to safeguard the security and social stability of the two countries.
