Thirty one suspected gamblers have been arrested following a week-long operation which ended Sunday, local media reports.
The suspects were nabbed for their alleged involvement in illegal lottery and cyber gambling, and were aged between 17 and 57, said Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Dev Kumar.
“We raided 26 premises for operating illegal 4D, which resulted in the arrest of 28 people,” said Dev, quoted by New Straits Times.
“Cash amounting to RM7,951, mobile phones, portable printers, calculators, betting slips and stationery were also seized.”
“Apart from illegal 4D, raids were conducted at counters where cyber gambling reload services were offered, in Mukah, Limbang and Lawas,” he added.
Raids on online gambling premises resulted in the arrest of three men, with all of the suspects arrested under the Common Gaming House Act 1953, said Dev.
