AGA president welcomes daily fantasy sports ban in Nevada

The American Gaming Association president welcomed the move by the Nevada gaming regulators to ban daily fantasy sports in the state, saying it will create more clarity for the industry.

Geoff Freeman released the statement after the Nevada Gaming Control Board  banned unlicensed daily fantasy sports websites from providing their product to the state’s customers, saying the activity constitutes sports wagering.

“The casino gaming industry has repeatedly called for greater legal clarity on daily fantasy sports,” he said.

“We appreciate that the Nevada Gaming Control Board has provided that clarity as well as a roadmap for DFS companies and casinos to provide popular fantasy sports within Nevada borders. We will continue to seek additional clarity in other jurisdictions, as eliminating ambiguity is in the best interests of all parties, including consumers.”
