Macau’s Alter City Group, which late last year was able to secure the lease on 155 hectares of land for an integrated resort project on Tinian island, has bought The Family Building on Saipan to serve as its headquarters.
Executive vice president Ken Lin said the acquisition is the company’s way of showing that it is fully committed to investing in the Northern Marianas and is going to work closely with the CNMI government to go through the permitting process and to see their investment through.
Lin and other board members are currently on Saipan meeting with both local and international construction and design firms.
Alter City plans a $360-million casino resort scheduled for completion in 12 years. It will be built in three phases and will include 1,500 hotel rooms, a water park, an 18-hole golf course, casino facilities, and related tourism amenities.
The headquarters building is located at the heart of the busy Garapan district, a few meters away from Hard Rock Cafe, DFS T Galleria, Bank of Guam -- where Best Sunshine International is renting an office space -- and the Century Hotel, among other establishments.
Lin told AGB that the company will build a restaurant on the second floor and their office on the third floor, with the lobby serving as a receiving area. The group also eventually plans an office on Tinian as well.
