Apple removes gambling apps in China/Vietnam

Apple said the majority of requests to remove apps from its store in the period from July to December last year came from China and related to gambling or pornography.

In its latest transparency report, the tech giant said 11 countries had made requests for apps to be removed and it had taken down a total of 634 worldwide.

Beijing sought the removal of 626 apps related either to pornography or illegal gambling. The tech giant said it had removed 517 of them.

In Vietnam, the government asked for 29 apps to be removed. Nine were taken down, it said. None of the other countries were in Asia.
