Aristocrat to buy mobile gaming company

Gaming supplier Aristocrat Leisure has announced it is planning to acquire an Israeli social-gaming company Plarium for US$500 million, increasing the company’s overall exposure to the digital market.

In a filing to the Australian Stock Exchange, Aristocrat said the deal would “significantly expand Aristocrat’s Digital addressable market into adjacent gaming segments.”

“Plarium has proven content, ability to monetize social games and global game development talent across multiple studios,” said the company in a statement.

Headquartered in Herzliya, Israel, Plarium is a privately owned free-to-play mobile, social and web-based game developer. It has over 1,200 employees across five studios as well as multiple offices throughout Europe, Israel and US.

The company is known for games including War of Clans, Future War, Stormfall: Rise of Balur, and Soldiers Inc: Mobile Warfare.
