ASF seeks cruise ship terminal for Gold Coast project

The China-backed ASF Consortium, which is seeking to build a $7.5 billion casino on Australia’s Gold Coast, will include a plan for a cruise ship terminal able to accommodate the world’s biggest vessels in a revamped proposal.

The consortium is redesigning plans for its multi-billion dollar proposal after the Queensland government scotched plans to allow development over state land, according to local media.

ASF Consortium said the cruise-ship terminal could be built by 2018, if their planned integrated resort wins a gaming licence from the Queensland government.

It named Brookfield Multiplex subsidiary Brookfield Johnson Controls — which also runs the Brisbane Cruise Ship Terminal — as its preferred operator for the terminal.

The proposed capacity for the terminal is 75 to 150 ship movements annually, with the ability to process 1500 passengers an hour, the report said.
