Australian police ban Melbourne mafia head from Crown Casino

Australian Police Chief Commissioner Ken Lay has banned the alleged head of the Melbourne mafia, Antonio Madafferi, from Crown Resorts’ Crown Casino in Melbourne, The Age newspaper said in an exclusive report.

It said the ban was made on the grounds of “public interest” due to Madafferi’s alleged links with organized crime.

The newspaper reports the ban was intended to prevent money laundering and to stop alleged organized crime figures using Crown Casino as a meeting place. Several other underworld figures, including jailed gangster Tony Mokbel, have also been issued with similar exclusion orders.

Madafferi owns several supermarkets and a restaurant franchise known as La Porchetta.
