Airline start-up, Bassaka Air, has been granted permission from Cambodia’s civil aviation authorities to fly Chinese visitors to the country on aircraft leased from NagaCorp.
Bassaka, which is partnered with the state-owned China International Travel Services (CITS) is to lease two Airbus A320 aircraft from the casino operator to ferry in Chinese tourists. The date of the first flight is yet to be confirmed.
“This is only the first step. We have many more steps to go before we can schedule our flight,” Joseph Stecker, chief executive officer of the airline said.
NagaCorp this week reported results for the first nine months of 2014, with unaudited gross gaming revenue totaling $271.9 million, up 26 percent from $215 million during the same period last year.
VIP rollings for NagaCorp totaled some $4.1 billion at the end of September, according to the October 3 statement, up 25 percent compared to the same period in 2013.
