BCorp launches first lottery game in Vietnam

Berjaya Corporation Bhd's (Bcorp) has launched its first lottery game in Vietnam, the Mega 6/45 Lotto Jackpot Game.

BCorp said the jackpot game will attract a new generation of Vietnamese lottery players, local media reports.

“Within the first month of operations, 800 point of sale terminals for Mega 6/45 tickets will be available throughout Ho Chi Minh City with some 10,000 point of sale terminals planned nationwide within the next five years,” the company said during the official launch of the lottery operations at the Independence Palace.

Earlier this year, BCorp was given the all-clear to run Vietnam’s nationwide computerized lottery for 18 years. According to Bursa Malaysia, the conglomerate received the investment registration certificate to start the project on Jan. 20, after winning the bid to run the lottery on May 2014, at a cost of RM925 million (US$210.58 million).

The certificate was issued by the Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment, after BCorp and the Vietnam Computerized Lottery One Member (Vietlott) entered into a business cooperation contract. At the time it planned to launch its first game by mid-2016.
