Best Sunshine is compliant of AML laws: CCC

Commonwealth Casino Commission executive director Edward Deleon Guerrero has defended recent claims brought by a Bloomberg report against Best Sunshine in Saipan, saying it is complying with all federal AML laws, local media reports.

Imperial Pacific came under the spotlight last week after it was alleged that the temporary casino had earned the suspicion of the U.S. Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network over its significant cash flow per table.

But Guerrero said the numbers were all true.

“If Best Sunshine Live inside a temporary casino inside a mall can outpace and outperform big name casinos is purely business... I can tell you the numbers are real. We are watching, documenting, and tracking it.”

The director said while he can not confirm or deny that such an investigation from the federal agency is taking place, if it was indeed happening, it could just be a routine inquiry.

“It is not as if they’ve done something wrong, [BSI] is submitting their reports to [FinCEN].”

“It is an irrelevant issue if FinCEN is doing an investigation but you don’t need to be alarmed if you are complying,” said Guerrero, adding that it is normally to be investigated in this industry.

Guerrero said that violating AML laws enforced by federal law enforcement is the quickest way for a casino to die.
