Betting on Sports America adds Pitch Competition to 2020 Agenda

SBC has partnered with SeventySix Capital, Sports Gaming Investment Fund (SGIF) and Stadia Ventures to launch a new pitch competition for innovative start-ups at Betting on Sports America 2020.

The competition is an exciting addition to the investment track of the world’s largest dedicated sports betting trade show, which takes place at Meadowlands Exposition Center, New Jersey on 28-30 April.

One of the most striking features of the growth in the U.S. sports betting market over the past 12 months has been the proliferation of new businesses launching cutting edge products and services for it.

The team behind BOSA has now moved to reflect the rising importance of these start-ups to the industry by providing a forum for them to gain valuable exposure in the new pitch competition.

It is backed by the formidable alliance of SeventySix Capital, SGIF and Stadia Ventures, who together provide unrivaled expertise in the fields of venture capital, consulting, operations and sports betting, making them the ideal team to spot great investment opportunities.

Sue Schneider, VP, Growth & Strategy, Americas for SBC, said: “We have a group of exceptional partners, who were all eager to be involved in BOSA, so we are confident this will be the premier pitch competition for the sports betting industry in the U.S. There is already a great deal of buzz around this and I can’t wait to see all the submissions we get.”

Wayne Kimmel, Managing Partner of SeventySix Capital, said: “Sports betting is one of our key investment sectors and as more and more states go live, it is one of our largest and fastest moving. We are thrilled to participate in the inaugural launch of BOSA’s pitch competition and continue supporting top entrepreneurs in the sports betting industry.”

Chris Grove, Managing Partner of SGIF, said: “The energy around start-ups in this industry is enormous and, as a new fund, SGIF is positioned perfectly to support new businesses focused on the sports betting sector. We’re really looking forward to hearing the exciting ideas of the early-stage companies taking part in the BOSA pitch competition.”

Tim Hayden, Managing Director of Stadia Ventures, said: “The ability of Stadia to leverage our key relationships and expertise, and to bring that to the sports betting sector, means the contest is a great opportunity for us and the start-ups that participate in it.”

More information about the pitch competition, including details of how to apply, will be released later this month.
