Bloomberry eyes South Korea casino acquisition

Bloomberry Resorts, the owner of the Philippines’ Solaire Resorts & Casino, is considering a casino acquisition in South Korea.

"Korea is just one of several prospective jurisdictions outside the Philippines that Bloomberry is looking at, but there is nothing definitive at this point. It is part of the company’s ordinary course of business to continuously evaluate potential opportunities offshore," the company told the Philippine Stock Exchange in response to media reports.

“We will make the proper disclosure when a definitive agreement is reached in any of these offshore projects,” it said giving no further details.

Bloomberry CEO Enrique Razon told shareholders in June that the company is in talks with a potential Japanese partner in preparation for bidding for a gaming license in Japan.

Razon didn’t give further details. It would be the first overseas venture for Bloomberry, which opened its Solaire Resorts & Casino in Manila last year.
