Boundary facilities may be cut from Macau bridge

Planned facilities at the boundary crossing of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge, such as  car parks, taxi stands, and public toilets, may not be built  if a request for extra funding of HK$5.46 billion ($704.5 million) is rejected by legislators, local media reports.

However, at a meeting of the Legislative Council, Under Secretary for Transport and Housing Yau Shing-mu said the opening will not be delayed, and the delays in Hong Kong will not affect the progress of the project in Zhuhai and Macau.

The bridge was due at the end of 2016, however, last month the Hong Kong Highways Department said it would likely be completed only in late 2017.
