Caesars revs up Japan IR campaign

As Caesars Entertainment president and CEO Mark Frissora tours Japan this week, company executives are meeting with local officials and the media, as well as announcing a whole host of new developments that clearly puts Caesars among the front rank of international IR operators seeking a license in Japan.

On Monday, Frissora was in Osaka and had a meeting with Governor Ichiro Matsui and Mayor Hirofumi Yoshimura. Earlier this month Caesars became an Official Partner with Osaka in its bid to host the 2025 World Expo in Yumeshima, next to the planned site for the major IR. The meeting with the governor and the expo sponsorship demonstrated Caesars’ strong intention to bid for the Yumeshima site.

Caesars is, in fact, the fourth international IR operator to become Osaka’s Official Partner on the expo bid, following Melco, MGM, and Hard Rock.

Moreover, Caesars has just launched an elaborate webpage connected with its Japan campaign, providing information in both the Japanese and English languages. Only a handful of other operators have established a strong online presence in Japanese, namely MGM and Melco.

At a media roundtable held in Tokyo on Tuesday, Frissora announced an additional initiative that is to date unique among the operators bidding for the Japanese market. Caesars is committing

US$250,000 for responsible gaming initiatives in Japan, focusing mainly on a gambling education campaign.

The media was also shown a well-produced concept video for a Caesars IR in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, which was apparently created as part of their campaign surrounding the RFI that this city conducted in the latter half of 2017.
