Canidrome given until July 10 to submit greyhound proposal

The Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome has been given until July 10 to submit a proposal for the relocation of its 600 greyhounds, MNA reports.

The Canidrome has held a number of adoption days on a weekly basis but has garnered criticism over the organization of the adoption events, and lack of acceptable background checks on potential adopters.

On Monday, the IACM sent a letter request to the owners of the Canidrome, while reiterating that the government had informed the company to vacate the area in 2016, perceiving it had sufficient time to prepare the adoption of the remaining greyhounds.

The Canidrome is required to vacate the premises by July 21.

The IACM also stressed that it does not support any company or person to abandon their dogs or other pets, and will file prosecution to those who break the law.
