Casino chips and girls used to lure players in cricket World Cup

According to confidential reports by the anti-corruption unit of the International Cricket Council, the ACSU, attempts were made by several bookies to contact players during the 2011 Cricket World Cup and also during India’s tour to England in the same year. The bookies, known only by their initials, “made several attempts to approach players”, according to the documents, giving them casino chips and promising to provide them with girls at a safe hotel. According to the Telegraph, the ACSU “chased 281 lines of inquiry across the world, investigated 11 corrupt approaches to players or team officials, 124 suspicious actions, [and] monitored the suspicious activities of 67 individuals”.
