Macau’s health authorities have further clarified on Tuesday that whilst casino patrons will be required to produce a negative Covid-19 test in order to enter a Macau casino, employees of the casino will be exempt from this rule.
Rules for casino patrons was first announced on Monday by the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre, coinciding with the recent lifting of a 14-day quarantine requirement for travelers moving between Guangdong and Macau, as well as Hubei and Macau.
Patrons will be required to show a NAT certificate confirming that they have tested negative for Covid-19, but this policy will not apply to local casino employees, although they will still be required to undergo body temperature checks and be required to wear masks.
That being said, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau said it plans to arrange for group screenings of employees from various gaming companies, particularly frontline workers such as dealers and security staff in the near future.
