Catena Media buys Japan casino website

Malta-based Catena Media announced yesterday that they had acquired a Japanese affiliate at a purchase price of approximately US$5.5 million.

According to the press release, “The acquired assets are some of the highest ranked casino websites in Japan. The business differentiates itself by publishing unique quality content aimed at Japanese players.”

Although the acquired Japanese business was not named, it was described as a company that was formed in 2006 and which possessed a full-time staff of three people, as well as four freelance journalists.

Catena Media itself was formed in 2012 and claims more than 250 employees, with its main offices in Malta, the United Kingdom, and Serbia. They describe their goal as becoming “the world’s number one provider of high-value iGaming leads.”
