China lottery figures fall 41.7 percent in H1


Sales in China’s two state lotteries dropped 41.7 percent in the first half, with the Sports Lottery faring worse than the Welfare Lottery.

Total sales were CNY123.9 billion (17.6 billion). Welfare Lottery sales were down 39.4 percent to CNY59.2 billion, while Sports Lottery sales were down 43.7 percent to CNY64.6 billion. 

The biggest decline was reported for video lottery sales, which fell 79.9 percent year-on-year to CNY5.06bn. 

For June alone, lottery ticket sales were down 3.4 percent to CNY3.57 billion, an improvement on the prior months of the year. The decrease narrowed from the 17.7-percent drop in May and 35-percent slump in April.
