China lottery sales down 3.8 percent in 2015

China’s lottery sales fell 3.8 percent year on year to RMB367.9 billion (US$55.9 billion) in 2015, according to data from the Ministry of Finance in China.

Welfare lottery sales went down 2.2 percent in 2015 to RMB201.5 billion and sports lottery sales went down 5.7 percent to RMB166.4 billion.

 The slowdown in China’s economic growth was the main culprit of the decline, however, the temporary suspension of online sales that was imposed in Mar. 2015 was also to blame.
