China lottery sales fell slightly in June


China saw its monthly lottery sales fall slightly in June, going down 0.3 percent year-on-year to RMB 33.8 billion (US$5 billion), according to data from the Ministry of Finance.  

Welfare lottery ticket sales increased 8.8 percent year-on-year to RMB 17.8 billion, while sports lottery sales fell 8.9 percent to RMB 16 billion, said the ministry.

Last month, 16 provinces and regions saw growth in lottery sales, including Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Chongqing, Henan and Tibet.

The results meant an increase in lottery sales for the first six months of 2017, reaching RMB 205 billion, and growth of 5.5 percent year-on-year.

Sales of welfare lottery tickets in the first half of the year increased 3.7 percent year on year to RMB 106.1 billion, while sports lottery sales rose 7.6 percent to RMB 98.9 billion.
