China lottery sales increased 9.6 pct in April


Mainland China lottery sales in April totalled CNY38.2 billion (US$5.5 billion), representing a rise of 9.6 percent year-on-year, according to data from the Ministry of Finance.

Welfare lottery ticket sales increased 4.3 percent year-on-year to CNY18.7 billion, while sports lottery sales went up 15.2 percent to CNY19.5 billion.

For the first four months of 2017, total lottery sales went up 6.2 percent to CNY133.5 billion. Welfare lottery sales were up 3.7 percent, while sports lottery sales increased 9.1 percent year-on-year.

April also saw lottery sales growth in 25 provinces across China, with particularly strong sales recorded in Chongqing, Fujian, Guangdong, Hubei and Zhejiang.
