China mobile gaming almost doubles in 2012, to top $1.6 bln by year end

China's mobile gaming market last year raked in revenue of 3.2 billion yuan ($525 million), up 90.6% from 2011 and is on track to be above 10 billion yuan this year, local media reported citing intelligence website 199IT. The market is likely to continue to grow next year, with the potential to top 20 billion yuan. Meanwhile, China's Ministry of Culture (MOC) said it will begin overseeing the country's mobile gaming industry shortly.
