China releases one junior Crown employee

Crown Resorts said on Sunday that one of its 18 staff arrested in China for “gambling crimes” has been released from detention.

According to the Australian Financial Review, Jenny Jiang, a junior employee who worked as an executive assistant at Crown in Shanghai, was released on bail on Thursday.

Crown made an announcement to the ASX that one of its employees had been released, but provided no further details.

Under Chinese law, police can detain people up to 37 days before releasing them or pressing charges.

The release of Ms. Jiang could mean the others will be charged by the November 20 deadline, said those close to the case.
