Chinese visitors to Korea spike in Dec

Chinese visitors to South Korea rebounded in December 2016, up 15.1 percent year-on-year, according to data from the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO).

The rebound follows from a slowdown in Chinese inbound tourist growth in October (4.7 percent) and November (1.8 percent).

CLSA analysts in a note on Tuesday said they believed the growth will continue through this month.

“We believe this trend will continue in January 2017 and that market concerns will ease. Duty free (DF) sales growth should be even stronger thanks to Chinese resellers,” said the brokerage.
