Chongqing has resumed the processing of the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) and group tour travel visas to Macau and Hong Kong, according to an announcement from the Chongqing police department as reported by Macau Daily Times.
The move ends a four and a half month shutdown of China’s immigration services which began at the end of January this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to a post on Weibo by the Chongqing police department, members of the public will be allowed to apply for travel endorsement to Hong Kong and Macau from June 1, 2020.
The allowance of IVS applications will be a welcome sight for Macau and its tourism industry.
Last year, Macau welcomed 13.1 million visitors through the IVS travel scheme.
