Court dismisses claim of Vietnamese baccarat system

A Vietnamese immigrant failed to convince the  Administrative Appeals Tribunal that unexplained financial deposits were all gambling winnings and that he should therefore not have to pay A$1.15 million ($1.19 million) in tax and penalties. The man claimed to have discovered a system to win at baccarat 95 percent of the time during a trip back to Vietnam in 2006  and then won more than $4 million at casinos there and in Cambodia. He said he continued to use the system at The Star in Sydney, which did record that he won a net A$464,156 in 2008 after three years of losses. The tribunal said the records didn't support that the man's winnings were as large as claimed and said the baccarart system was "inherently improbable".
