Court tells Melco Crown to abide by employee accord

The Philippine Court of Appeals has ordered Melco Crown Entertainment to abide by an accord to not hire the employees of rival Bloomberry Resorts and Hotels for a minimum of six months after their termination.

The original compromise accord was approved by the Regional Trial Court in Paranaque City in December, 2014 and led to the termination of a prior civil case between the two parties, local media reports. It also applies to MCE’s parent companies and units.

Bloomberry had accused MCE of violating the accord with the employment of Miles Fong Hio, a former Solaire employee, at parent Crown Resorts.

Fong had been hired by Solaire as director for Premium and Player Development in 2013, a position that involved handling relations with junket operators. Bloomberry said it was a crucial area of its business, according to the report.
