Crown focuses on building new casino in Brisbane

Crown has confirmed that it will not be buying Echo Entertainment’s Jupiters Hotel and Casino on the Gold Coast, which is up for sale for around $100 million, and is instead campaigning for a second casino in Brisbane.  Crown Chief Executive Rowan Craigie travelled to Brisbane this week to meet with bureaucrats to discuss the deal, and will return again next week.  Crown has criticized Echo Entertainment’s management of its Treasury casino in Brisbane, labelling the operations “a disgrace”.  Echo meanwhile maintains that there is not enough demand for a second casino in Brisbane and said that it would not be sending any representatives to the meetings.
