CrownBet and Fox Sports launch fantasy betting in Australia

CrownBet has teamed up with News Corp Australia’s Fox Sports to launch a new fantasy betting platform.

To be launched before this weekend’s AFL round, Draftstars.com.au will become the first entry for the publisher into the wagering industry in Australia, reports The Australian.

The platform currently covers AFL, but has plans to add other sports including NRL and the NBA. “Draftstars is a natural extension of the way we connect with Australians’ passion for sport, bringing together our broadcast credentials with CrownBet’s gaming expertise to allow AFL fans to immerse themselves in the sport in a whole new way,” said Fox Sports chief executive Patrick Delany, as quoted by The Australian.

The joint venture will see Fox Sports providing promotion and marketing of the platform, while CrownBet will provide the gambling know-how and platform.

“Anyone who lives and breathes AFL will love Draftstars for the exciting and engaging digital sporting experience our platform will deliver,” said Matt Sanders, former head of commercial operations at CrownBet, and now the chief executive of Draftstars.
