The results were driven by an impressive December tally, only topped by October (due to Golden Week). The figures were bolstered by some 28 million tourists during the year, still shy of 2019 levels. Meanwhile, in the UAE, authorities put raffles and prize draws on hold, to establish a "well regulated gaming environment". And in Saipan, the region's casino commission has re-appointed an executive director as it attempts to negotiate with Imperial Pacific.

The figure means that full-year numbers have now topped the MOP180 billion figure requiring an increase in operators' non-gaming spend by up to 20 percent. Authorities have been hush about exactly how this will play out, even as operators up the ante to animate the city.
