Dealer makes off with $6.1 mln worth of chips

Macau police are searching for a dealer who reportedly stole close to HK$48 million (US$6.1 million) worth of casino chips from Wynn Macau, local media reports.

The Judiciary Police confirmed the case and said an investigation is now underway to see whether there were any accomplices involved.

Police confirmed that the theft did not involve any use of weapons.

"A gaming parlour worker took away the chips worth 47.89 million Hong Kong dollars. No weapon or sharp knife was used during the course of the incident, according to the footage we went through. The suspect didn't use any violence or weapon", said Judiciary Police spokesperson, Choi Ian Fai, quoted by TDM News.

In response to the theft, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau has ordered casinos to beef up their security and have requested a report from Wynn Macau.
