Delta Corp saw a slight increase in profit in the second quarter of 2019, increasing 2.6 percent year-on-year to Rs 42.5 crore (US$6.2 million).
This came despite a slight decline in total revenue in the second quarter of 2019, falling one percent year-on-year to Rs. 236.8 crore.
Gaming revenue increased slightly, up 2.6 percent year-on-year. According to Delta Corp., this was largely driven by the casino gaming division, offset slightly by the online skill gaming division and the hospitality division.
Industry experts said the slight drop and flattish revenues are mainly attributed to increased competition in Goa due to the entry of Big Daddy casino and increased competition with the entry of PokerStars and others in the online poker space.
Delta Corp Limited is the only listed company in India engaged in the casino (live, electronic and online) gaming industry in India. Delta Corp currently owns and operate casinos in India, in the states of Goa and Sikkim, offering approximately 1,800 gaming positions.
