Delta to press on with Horseshoe launch

Delta Corp. said it remained committed to launching the M.V. Horseshoe, its new floating casino, in Goa despite the controversy touched off by the arrival of the large ship in the state two months ago and officials’ refusal so far to license it. Jaydev Mody, chairman, said the launch was “on track” as the group reported gaming revenues rose 3.7 percent to 402.3 million rupees ($6.8 million) while pre-tax profits from the casino division were nearly flat at 2.33 billion rupees. Mody said the company also still planned to open a casino resort in Daman, which would be both Delta's first onshore casino and the first casino in the former Portuguese colony, before the end of the fiscal year in March.
