Deltin’s Casino Caravela set for relaunch

Deltin Group’s Casino Caravela offshore casino boat is set for a relaunch after a year of refurbishing.

The ship, to be renamed the Deltin Caravela, will be a five-star floating hotel and is expected to be ready for operations within a month, according to local media.

The company already operates the Deltin Royale and the Deltin Jaqk.

"The ship can be operated either in North or South Goa depending on the availability for mooring. We have identified Britona (North Goa) as one of the places for mooring the ship, but nothing has been finalized," Deltin chairman Jaydev Mody was cited as saying.

The hotel will have 15 suites, a spa and restaurant and will also have a small casino onboard. DCL is in the process of getting approvals from the government for operating the ship, said Mody said.

Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar recently said that the state won’t allow new casino licenses, but the existing businesses will be permitted to stay as a valuable revenue source. His comments followed threats by the previous administration to shut down the casino boats.
