DICJ completes audit on junket operators

The DICJ has completed its audit on Macau’s 126 registered junket operators, according to comments from director Paulo Martins Chan on Monday, according to a report from Macau News Agency.

Mr. Chan said there were less than ten junkets found with “some deficiencies,” which are related to the operators not having registered properly or providing sufficient information about their operations.

Chan said he has made requests for the operators to amend these deficiencies by the end of the year, which will be taken into consideration when junket operators enter their licensing period.

Mr Chan was speaking to local reporters after the Tenth International Conference on The Legal Reforms of Macau in the Global Context – Gaming Law at the University of Macau, adding that the government is also revising several aspects of the gaming law including new regulations on entry, work, and gambling in casinos and the supply of gaming equipment.

Chan also said the DICJ will be reinforcing measures to prevent proxy betting in casinos, which is illegal.
