The Philippines Department of Justice (DOJ) has backed the dismissal of an estafa complaint against Kazuo Okada in a case involving the contracting of faulty LED strips used at Okada Manila.
Last year, Tiger Resort, Leisure and Entertainment, Inc. (TRLEI) owner of Okada Manila, had filed a complaint for estafa against Okada, two former officers, and Aruze Manufacturing, accusing Okada colluding with the other officers to awarding a contract to Aruze, which was also allegedly owned by Okada.
Aruze Manufacturing were the suppliers of LED strips used at the property, which had started to fail within a few weeks after its launch in March 2017.
In a 10-page response on December 21, the DOJ concluded that there was not enough evidence to pursue criminal charges against Okada.
“From the records, there appears to be no concrete evidence at all of Respondents’ alleged conspiracy and representations that brought about the contract in question.”
However, the DOJ said that the case could be subject to another complaint - such as breach of contract.
