Dore looks to close Wynn rooms

Dore Entertainment is planning to close one of the three VIP rooms it operates in Wynn Macau, local media reports.

The Macau Daily Times reported that lawmaker Pereira Coutinho said the junket operator had little choice but to close its rooms following a scandal in which an employee allegedly stole an estimated HKD270 million ($35 million) from the company.

“This was an expected situation, sooner or later the rooms would have to close because they simply did not have money to pay,” Coutinho was quoted by the Daily Times as saying.

Although there is no still no official confirmation as yet, the lawmaker said that he believes the closure will be done on Dore’s initiative.

“They only kept the rooms in operation due to an imposition of the concessionary”, adding that the losses are very high.
