Two senior Pagcor officials have been fired by President Rodrigo Duterte for their alleged involvement in corrupt activities, according to a report from Philippine Star.
The two officials have been accused for issuing gambling permits outside of their respective territories, and issuing too many.
“It is rightful to issue permits within your territory, but when you begin to issue gambling permits outside of your territory…” he said.
The president was also irked that the officials had granted franchise contracts to foreigners for 75 years.
“And you give these contracts for foreigners for 75 years?... you must be crazy. How many Presidents will the franchise go through?” he said.
Duterte said there was another five more senior government officials on the firing line.
