Easier restrictions on gaming workers in casinos: DICJ

The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) says it will likely impose more flexible restrictions when it comes to gaming workers entering casinos after working hours, according to local gaming activists.

“The direction of the prohibition, according to the DICJ, would only be confined to gaming areas,” said local gaming activist and director of the New Macau Gaming Professionals Association (NMGPA) Cloee Chao, quoted by Macau Business Daily.

According to Chao, the prohibition to be placed on gaming workers may not be as strict as the ones imposed on civil servants.

“Because inside the casinos there are also corridors and restaurants, unlike restrictions to civil servants who are prohibited from entering casinos entirely.”

Chao also revealed that the restrictions would not only be imposed upon dealers but also on employees working in a casino, such as accountants working in offices located in a casino.

In regards to smoking lounges, Ms. Chao has revealed that the NMGPA has appealed to the DICJ to inform the Health Bureau regarding which junket rooms have been closed and whether junket operators have moved out of the premises, as certain former junket rooms are currently being used as smoking lounges.

“The Health Bureau is not informed about the closing of some VIP rooms and smoking is allowed in these areas which is illegal,” she indicated.
