Echo appoints Sally Pitkin as non-executive director

Echo Entertainment said it has appointed Queensland-based company director and lawyer Sally Pitkin as a non-executive director as it competes to expand its business in the Australian state.

The appointment is subject to casino regulatory approvals.

In the gaming industry, Pitkin has previously held non-executive director positions with Aristocrat Leisure, Australian Leisure and Hospitality Group and Golden Casket Lottery Corp.

Sally’s extensive corporate experiences, in particular those derived in Queensland, make her a valuable addition to the board, chairman John O’Neill said in a Stock Exchange filing.

Echo is currently competing for a second casino license in downtown Brisbane. In June, it said it would team with Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium International to bolster its chances of obtaining the permit.

The new consortium will be known as Destination Brisbane Consortium and the parties will work together on a detailed proposal to develop the Queen’s Wharf project.

The group will be competing against James Packer’s Crown Resorts and Chinese property company Greenland Holdings Group.
