Echo calls for bigger bills in Queensland machines

Echo Entertainment Group Ltd., which operates three casinos in Queensland, has proposed that the state allow its gambling machines to accept A$50 ($46) and A$100 bills, up from a maximum A$20. The group said Queensland is the only state with that low a limit, but it supported keeping a cap of A$5 on bets on gambling machines in pubs and clubs. The operator expressed support for a proposal to allow gambling on Good Friday and Christmas Day but said that higher gaming machine taxes imposed in 2009 have hurt profits.
