Entertainment Gaming Takes Dreamworld Charge, May Exit Property

Entertainment Gaming Asia Inc. (EGA) said it will take a $2.5 million impairment charge as of December 31st because of operating losses at its Dreamworld Pailin casino resort in Cambodia, where it said the outlook "remains challenging."

The company in September last year began the transition to a leasing model at the casino in an effort to boost recurring cash flow. However, the resort is not seeing enough traffic and the third-party rental income and slot revenue are not covering its cash operating costs. Entertainment Asia said it will continue to look at strategic options for the property, including exiting altogether.
