Far East Consortium opens two new hotels in Melbourne

Far East Consortium, investor in The Star’s Queen’s Wharf Brisbane project, has announced the opening of two other non-gaming hotels in Melbourne: Ritz-Carlton and Dorsett Melbourne.

The group debuted the 257-luxury room Ritz-Carlton on March 23rd, in the West Side mixed-use development CBD zone of Melbourne, with its lobbying located on the 80th floor of the property.
The group also debuted the 316-room Dorsett Melbourne on April 19th, also located in the West Side Place development in Melbourne. The property joins the 313-room Dorsett Gold Coast property in Queensland, located next to The Star.
Speaking about the new openings, the Managing Director of FEC, Chris Hoong, noted that “we are delighted to be opening two landmark hotel properties in our AU$2.4 billion West Side Place development. The hotels are joining a very vibrant community of residents in the West Side Place development and add incremental value to the precinct”.
The group is currently developing five other hotels in Australia, which once opened will mean that the group owns over 2,300 rooms in the country.
