Former immigration head appointed as Pagcor chair

The Philippine President-elect Rodrigo Duterte has named former immigration chief Andrea Domingo as chair of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.

Domingo was a strong supporter of Duterte, a former mayor of Davao City, during his election campaign, according to media reports. She was an organizer of volunteer groups for the Duterte campaign.

Aside from her post at immigration, Domingo also served as Pampanga congresswoman and general manager and CEO of the Philippine Reclamation Authority. She replaces Cristino Naguiat.

Domingo takes over the reins amidst expectations for increased regulation in the Philippines in the wake of a money laundering scandal involving money stolen from Bangladesh’s central bank.
