Galaxy Entertainment scraps apartment hotel plans

Galaxy Entertainment has abandoned plans for a four-star apartment hotel for its Galaxy Macau resort and instead will build a bigger five-star hotel to form part of the complex, according to local media reports.
The company intends to open the second phase of the development in the first half of next year.
The company is investing $2.5 billion in the second phase of its Galaxy Macau development, which is scheduled to come online in 2015. The expansion will nearly double the capacity of the resort. Construction on Phase 3 and 4 is expected to begin by the end of the year with a total investment of HK$60 billion ($7.7 billion).
