Myanmar will review the status of gambling under its 1993 tourism law under a tourism master plan developed with the Asian Development Bank and funded by Norway. A public consultation is to be held on that and other issues. "Priority issues include a review and recommendations on how integrated resorts with gaming and casinos could better align with the vision and aims of the responsible tourism policy," the plan says. The country is home to more than 40 casinos, but they are unregulated and are located in border areas primarily to serve Chinese and Thai gamblers.
