Gambling rules the Dandenong night

Greater Dandenong, a suburban area of Melbourne home predominantly to low-income immigrants, was the only one of 12 areas in a study on Australia's "night time economy" where gambling was the top activity by revenue. The estimated A$108 million ($111 million) spent on gambling in 2011 topped the A$102 million outlay on cafes and restaurants. Melbourne itself was found to have A$234 million in night time gambling revenue.
