Global mobile-gaming company Gameloft sacked 250 employees on Tuesday and shut down its Hyderabad branch, the only one in India, without any prior notification. The move came as a complete shock to employees, who said the company was doing well in India. Company sources said that the decision was taken by “high-level management” though the exact reason is not known. The developer also announced its earnings for the last quarter on the same day of the shutdown: a 27 percent boost in earnings in 2012, or USD $275 million. Gameloft says Q4 sales were only up by 23 percent, with Q2 and Q3 showing more growth, at 35 and 37 percent, respectively.
